Biosafety
The “Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories” (BMBL) document is considered to be the minimum standard of practice for all U.S. laboratories that handle agents and diagnostic materials that may contain human pathogens. The BMBL outlines the biosafety level system that we have largely based the UT Biosafety Program upon.

Bloodborne Pathogens
Developed in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030. The purpose of this exposure control plan is to eliminate or minimize employee occupational exposure to human blood or other infectious body fluids. This standard applies to all University personnel who, during the course of their employment, may come into contact with human blood or potentially infectious bodily fluids.
