Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- 1. A lab coat and fluid-resistant disposable gloves are to be worn as minimum PPE for ALL procedures that involve handling potentially infectious materials.
- 2. Other PPE to be worn for this process/procedure include the following:

- Impact resistant safety glasses with side shields for bench work outside of a shielded environment (i.e., behind a biological safety cabinet or fume hood sash)
- Splash goggles because the procedure involves liquid quantities and processes that are likely to produce hazardous splashes or sprays outside of a shielded environment (i.e., behind a biological safety cabinet or fume hood sash)
- Face shield to reduce the possibility of skin or mucous membrane contamination that could facilitate lab-acquired infection occurrence

Transport/Spill Considerations:
- 1. All containers of potentially infectious materials must be placed in a secondary container that will effectively prevent an environmental release/spill if such containers are to be removed from the BSL-2 lab and be transported through public hallways where food and drink may be present or consumed.
- 2. In the event of a spill of biological materials in the lab, isolate the area, immediately notify others in the labs and your supervisor. Then, take the following actions:

Disinfection:
