Initial training is required prior to working in labs that are registered with the IBC, are diagnostic labs handling microorganisms, or are teaching labs that meet certain Biosafety criteria.
EHS Lab Safety Services provides online training and class-style trainings upon request. Principal Investigators or Lab Supervisors must supplement training with lab-specific information to meet minimum training standard requirements.
Initial Training is available online. You will need to enter your UT NetID and email address. Upon successfully completing the training and exam with a score of 80% or better, you will receive a certificate of completion by email to the address you provide on the initial screen. Print a copy of the certificate for your laboratory notebook. If you do not see it immediately upon completion in your email inbox, please check your spam folder.
