Once you have logged into iMedRIS, click on the Project Assistant tab on the left. Next, click on Add a New Project to begin the electronic application. The electronic application will guide you through the research questions you must address depending on the type of research materials you will be registering. After you complete the electronic application, you will be prompted to upload any documents pertinent to your registration, including Material Safety Data Sheets, USDA Permits, IACUC Approvals, etc. You will then be able to route the application and associated documents to all persons who must sign off before the IBC receives it.

Should you have any questions regarding the IBC electronic application, do not hesitate to contact EHS Lab Safety Services at 865-974-5084 or email utbiosafety@utk.edu. In addition, you may consult the printable Guides and Tips below. If you need more individualized assistance, you may request one-on-one training from the Biosafety Office by emailing utbiosafety@utk.edu.

You must have a valid UT NetID to view these guides. Also, visiting scholars and any other lab personnel not directly affiliated with UT must have a NetID to be added to your registration. For more information on requesting a NetID, go to http://oit.utk.edu/general/forms/. Complete a “Request to Sponsor a Person for OIT Services [PDF]” and submit to OIT.
