Biosafety Principles Refresher Online Training

This training focuses on manipulating agents infectious to humans or animal or plant pathogens that require a federal or state permit that mandates BSL-2 lab operational standards as well as handling wastes that are generated in these environments.

Note: The REFRESHER is a once a year requirement for those people who have already taken and passed the Biosafety Principles Training. If you wish to take this training in person, please contact the Biosafety Office.

Prior to accessing the Biosafety Principles Refresher Online Module, please review the following:

Online Training Instructions

Step 1: Log into Blackboard. You must have a UT user ID and password to access this training. If you do not, please contact the Biosafety Office for further instructions.

Step 2: In Blackboard, click on the Biological Safety link on the right side of the page. Select the training session and follow the instructions.

Step 3: Take the quiz. You must pass this quiz (80% or higher). If you do not pass, you must contact Sarah DiFurio at sbottoml@utk.edu or 974-9836 to reset the quiz.

Step 4: Print the page indicating you have passed. Give one copy to your supervisor, and keep one copy for your records.

Step 5: After completing the training, follow up with your Laboratory Supervisor for site-specific training. If you have any questions about the training material, please contact the Biosafety Office.
